Zombie Newsflash - they're dangerous!

I like a laugh.  Especially when it concerns Zombies.  So I had to re-post the following article from stuff.co.nz.

Zombie injury bill scary stuff

Zombies and vampires may be popular in Hollywood, but their supernatural antics should come with a warning after ghostly injuries cost ACC almost $25,000 in the past five years.
ACC claims figures show the agency paid out $24,834 to more than 20 people between 2008 and 2012 for ghost, vampire and zombie-related accidents.
Explanations for the paranormal injuries varied.
They included crashing into a pole while playing zombies at school, accidentally put arm through window telling a ghost story, hit head crawling under bed to find ghost, fell off stage during ghost tour, bumped into dishwasher playing ghost tag, banged forehead on door frame wearing a blanket pretending to be a ghost and knocked over by a vampire.
Most of the money was paid out in 2010, where six claimants received varying shares of $20,696.
An ACC spokeswoman said many of the unearthly injuries were the result of preventable accidents.
"The safest place in your house for a zombie is the living room," she said.

Pita Sharples - dead?

I like Pita Sharples.

He's a man of principles.  Integrity.  Honor.  What Maori would call 'Mana'.  A statesman.  Someone we can trust.  I'm sure that Pita would be fun to be around.  His genial smile and infectious good humor make him someone I would probably like a great deal.

It's a shame then, that he must have passed away recently.

I say this because he resigned from the Maori Party co-leadership on Tuesday of this week.  Yet previously, Pita was quoted as saying that he would "lead (the party) until I'm dead".

Based on that quote, he must have died.  What a shame.

How then does a part-time blogger explain his current state?  Ambling around and holding press conferences?  You guessed it - he has to be a....ZOMBIE!

Zombification image to follow.  Stay tuned....

How To Spot A Zombie (4)

4. Zombies always have bad-hair days.

It has been brought to my attention that I have zombified two dark skinned political people to one Caucasian.  Obviously this will not do.  I don't want to run into the trouble that cartoonist Al Nisbet did (here and here).  So in the time honoured way, I'll set things right by doing another Caucasian.  And a woman too - just to prove I'm not sexist either.

Right Julia?

How To Spot A Zombie (3)

3.  Zombies don't speak.  Instead they utter wails, moans or hiss with wide open mouths.  Zombies will do this with full mouths (of BRaaaaaiiiinnnssssss!).

Continuing my trend of zombification of political people, this is Hone.  He would like to eat your brains.

How to spot A Zombie (2)

2. Zombies have weird eyes - and cannot be cured.  Not even by ObamaCare.

Stuff.co.nz is keen on Zombies too!

A couple of Zombie stories have surfaced in the last few days:

Marvelous to have the crew at Stuff joining the legion of Zombie fans!

This story on Stuff also caught my eye:  http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/health/8690278/Family-counts-blessings-after-superbug-scare

Wellington man Rick Teal had a nasty brush with the awesomely named necrotising fasciitis.  Rick survived and has some nasty scars to remind him of how lucky he was.

Why is this linked to my blog about Zombies?  Think about it.  This is the way the Zombie Apocalypse is going to start.  With hordes of people presenting in hospitals with necrotising fasciitis.

When people do start catching this flesh eating bug in droves I'm going to start preparing the barricades!

Zombie prank backlash begins

Told you...

http://www.stuff.co.nz/technology/digital-living/8303606/Authorities-taking-zombie-prank-seriously

How can this be taken seriously?

"Local authorities in your area have reported the bodies of the dead are rising from their graves and attacking the living," the message warned. "Do not attempt to approach or apprehend these bodies as they are considered extremely dangerous."

C'mon.  It was fun.  treat is as such & move on.

Oh, and by the way - if you encounter a real zombie you should endeavor to run away.  If forced to fight - go for the brain stem which must be separated from the body or destroyed.  Cricket bats and shotguns are effective.

The Dead they are rising....

Wonderful news - hackers have broken into the broadcast of a local US TV station and faked a broadcast of the Zombie apocalypse.

TV-station-broadcasts-zombie-attack-alert

Magic!

This is evidence of hackers having a sense of humor that is so rarely found - especially in the corporate world.

Obviously the TV station concerned will bleat about the cost of the attack and bemoan the fact that hackers have infiltrated their most secure system.

Except that it wasn't secure was it?  I bet it gets upgraded now.  Which is the point.  Hackers and exploits of this nature point out problems in IT systems.  Media attention will ensure that this one gets fixed - and fast.

This exploit was a blast.  An absolute wheeze.  I love a good prank - and this was brilliant.
